Booking Shows Part 2 With No Manager (VIDEO)

Congratulations on completing your project at Untold Stories Recordings, and welcome to part two of our guide on booking your own shows! In this article, we'll dive deeper into the process, helping you establish connections and take your music on the road.

To start, reach out to every potential venue in your area, including coffee houses, dive bars, eagles clubs, music venues, and more. Present a compelling email with a write-up introducing the three acts involved in the show, along with links to their music. By presenting a cohesive bill, you're offering a complete package that appeals to the venue's interests. This approach increases your chances of securing your first show.

In the beginning, focus on building a reputation and a dedicated fan base rather than worrying about payment. Use these early shows as opportunities to sell merchandise and showcase your talent. As you prove your ability to draw a crowd and create a memorable experience, venues will recognize your value and become willing to pay you for your performances.

Another exciting option is to host an unforgettable house party. Renting a sound system from Guitar Center for just $100 can provide you with all the equipment you need to create an exceptional event. House parties offer an intimate and engaging atmosphere for your fans and can become a powerful platform for promoting your music.

Continue this pattern for at least a year, organizing shows on a regular basis, ideally once a month. Each time, aim to feature a different artist from a different city. By doing so, you'll not only expand your network but also establish connections and a sense of reciprocity with fellow musicians across the country.

When the time comes to plan your tour, you'll already have built relationships in 12 cities with 12 different artists. These artists will be excited to reciprocate the favor and offer you a show in their respective cities. Arrange the tour dates so you can play all 12 shows consecutively, turning yourself into a touring artist.

Booking shows in this DIY manner allows you to travel the country, build a community of dedicated fans, and generate income without waiting for a mythical label to discover you. It's about taking control of your career and forging your own path. If you've recorded at Untold Stories Recordings, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you have about DIY touring. We're here to support you on your journey.

Let's turn your passion into a thriving career, one show at a time!
